Following the resignations of two student advisors Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and Mahfuj Alam, their roles have been reassigned to Adilur Rahman Khan, Asif Nazrul, Syeda Rizwana Hasan.

Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur now oversees the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.

Law Advisor Nazrul takes up youth and sports, while Environment Advisor Rizwana assumes responsibility for the information ministry.

The reallocation of portfolios was formalised on Thursday by the Cabinet Division, hours after Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin announced the election schedule.

The order says the chief advisor has redistributed ministerial responsibilities among the other advisors, with the directive taking immediate effect.

Asif and Mahfuj stepped down on Wednesday, a day after it was announced that their resignations would become effective once the national election schedule was released.

Asif had overseen the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives.

Mahfuj had worked as the advisor to the information ministry after entering the government as the chief advisor’s special assistant.

With their resignations, these ministries automatically reverted to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, who later allocated them to the three other advisors, according to the official notification.

Adilur, Nazrul, and Rizwana have been part of the interim government since it took over following the Aug 5 shift in power.

Under the current arrangement, Yunus now holds responsibility for the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces Division, Ministry of Public Administration, and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
