In her remarks on Tuesday, Hasina praised the migrant workers’ immense contributions to Bangladesh’s economy,

She laid a foundation stone for the new chancery complex of Bangladesh High Commission in the diplomatic enclave of Jalan Kebangsaan in Brunei Darussalam.

Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions will have their own buildings to improve the services for the workers, Hasina said.

Bangladesh established its own buildings in 15 foreign countries over the last 10 years, according to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

Pledging to provide better services for the workers, Hasina said, “We’ve given priority to setting up our own buildings and schools in every foreign country where a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates are living.”

Bangladesh has already established some new complexes in some countries, including Saudi Arabia. The new chancery complexes will be inaugurated soon in several other countries, including Italy.

Earlier, the Bangladesh High Commission had purchased two plots from the Brunei government to construct buildings at the diplomatic enclave at Tk 63.9 million.
