The discovery was made on Saturday afternoon based on a statement given by one of Nusrat's classmates Zubair during interrogation, said Feni's PBI Inspection Md Shah Alam, the case's investigating officer.

Zubair is currently on remand after being accused in the case. He was arrested on Apr 9 at Sonagazi.

The burqa is one of the three worn by the male assailants during the incident, said Inspector Shah Alam.

"Nusrat's classmate Zubair was directly involved in the incident. We found a burqa in a ditch behind the Sonagazi Government College on the basis of the information given by him," said Inspector Shah Alam

"Before that on Friday afternoon, another suspect Kamrun Nahar Moni revealed that she purchased a burqa from a shop Sonagazi Municipality's Manik Mia Plaza. The PBI has now recovered one of the three burqas worn by the male assailants in the incident."

Nusrat was sitting the Alim examination, equivalent of the HSC, at the Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa in Feni.

She had gone to the madrasa on Apr 6 to sit an exam when four burqa-clad assailants poured kerosene on her body and set her on fire.

Nusrat was critically injured in the incident and died during treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Apr 10.

Her family had initiated a case against the madrasa's principal Siraj-ud-Doula for sexually abusing Nusrat. She was allegedy burnt in reprisal for refusing to withdraw the case, according to her family.
