New Zealand terror attack: Japan sends condolences for deaths of Bangladeshis

Japanese ambassador in Dhaka Hiroyasu Izumi has expressed sincere condolences to those Bangladeshis who lost their lives and their bereaved families following the terror attack at mosques in New Zealand’s Christchurch.

In a message to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Izumi said, terrorism “cannot be justified for any reason, under any circumstance.”

“In close cooperation with Bangladesh and the international community, Japan expresses determination to stand up against terrorism and to overcome this difficult time,” he wrote the message.

The Japanese embassy said earlier the ambassador had verbally conveyed to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the condolences from Japan.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said four Bangladeshi have been killed in the attack.

Two of them had been confirmed by police while two of them were confirmed by the local Bangladeshi community.
