Police shoot dead 20-year-old ‘robbery suspect’ in Dhaka
A suspected robber has been killed in an alleged shootout with police in Dhaka’s Gopibag.

Police claimed ‘Shanto’, 20, was a member of a robbery gang that was meeting in the Gopibagh Rail Gate area around 12am Tuesday.
A police team raided the location after being tipped-off about the meeting, said Nurul Amin, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Wari Zone).
“The robbers began shooting at the police personnel. The team returned fire. Shanto was wounded in the gun battle.”
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died during treatment on early Tuesday, said the police official.
Two suspects were arrested from the site, he said, adding that two police personnel were also injured in the gunfight.
