Four die as truck rams two autorickshaws in Chattogram

At least four people have died when a truck losing its control slammed into two autorickshaws at an autorickshaw stand at Chattogram’s Mirsarai Upazila.

The accident occurred in Thakurdighi on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway around 7am on Tuesday, said Inspector Sohel Sarker of Jorarganj Highway Police.

The dead were identified as Shah Alam, 40, Didarul Alam, 35, Mohiuddin, 60 and Kamrul, 24.  All are the residents of Zorarganj area.

A Dhaka bound truck lost its control in front of an autorickshaw stand and ploughed over the two autorickshaws, killing the four on the spot, according to Md Jasim Uddin, deputy-assistant director of Agrabad Fire Station.

All of the four were the passengers of the autorickshaws. Police recovered the bodies.
