The citizens can access the helpline from any mobile or land phone.

Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy, the ICT Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, inaugurated the helpline at the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday.

Telecommunication and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, Cabinet Secretary (coordination and reforms) NM Zeaul Alam, and PMO Secretary (in charge) Sajjadul Hassan, among others, were also present.

The services in the helpline under the Access to Information (a2i) programme of the PMO are available in all 64 districts round the clock.

Expatriate Bangladeshis can also get the services by dialing 0966678333.

When to call 333?

>> To know the process of getting any government service.

>> To get information on contacting public representatives and servants.

>> To know about tourist spots and facilities.

>> To report any social problems like child marriage, sexual harassment, drugs, gambling, or counterfeit commodities.

>> To know about natural disasters and what to do during these.

Joy said the helpline aims to take information on government services directly to the citizens.

“As most of the people use mobile phones now, we have tried to make the helpline friendly to these users,” he said.

a2i Policy Advisor Anir Chowdhury said over 600,000 citizens were given services through the helpline in one year of experimental run.

Deputy commissioners and Upazila executive officers took steps over more than 4,000 complaints on social problems, including 541 on adulterated food, 431 on child marriage and 391 on drugs, according to Anir.

Telecom operator Robi and call centre operator Genex have provided technical help to run the helpline.

Robi Manging Director and CEO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed and Genex Managing Director Adnan Imam were also present.
