Shaheen Bapari was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital or DMCH's burns unit after his arrival from Kathmandu by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft on Sunday.

Burns unit Coordinator Dr Shamanta Lal Sen told journalists Shaheen has 16 percent burns on his body. "He has got some other injuries, so we have to keep him under observation," he added.

Two of the survivors have been sent to Singapore from Nepal while two others are still under treatment at a Katmandu hospital.

Kabir Hossain, one of the two survivors undergoing treatment in Nepal, was supposed to come to Dhaka with Shaheen. But he could not as he was not in a position to travel sitting on a plane, according to Dr Sen.

Forty-nine of the 71 people on board US-Bangla Airlines' Dhaka-Kathmandu flight were killed when the plane had an awkward landing and burst into flames in Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport on Mar 12.

Of the 26 dead Bangladesh passengers, 23 have been identified until Sunday.

Investigations are still on to determine the cause of the accident, though the US-Bangla authorities earlier said the pilot had received wrong signal from the control tower while the airport officials blamed pilot's error for the accident.
