No trains left the old Chittagong Railway Station on Tuesday morning for the campus in the port city, said Md Shahabuddin, station master of Sholoshohor Railway Station.

Teachers were reportedly barred from starting for the campus by bus.

Chhatra League activists engaged in clashes on Monday afternoon as they tried to establish supremacy in Shahjalal and Shah Amanat halls.

Six people were injured in the clash that finally ended after police lobbed teargas shells.

Leaders of one of the factions were known to be followers of late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, former Chittagong city mayor. The other group is known to be backed by the current Chittagong mayor, AJM Nasir Uddin.

With assistance from the CU administration, police raided the two halls and recovered weapons.

Two firearms were found on a hill behind the Shahjalal dormitory, said CU Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury.

The classes and exams were going on as scheduled, he added.
