Noakhali Awami League leader attacked

A Noakhali Awami League leader has been reported been hacked and beaten in an attacked at Hatiya Upazila.

Habibur Rahman, 50 is the office secretary of the Sonadia Union Awami League.

He was attacked at a tea stall in Maisechara village around 12pm on Friday, said his brother Nurul Islam, Sonadia Union Parishad chairman and local Awami League leader.

A group of armed men riding on bike, open fire to scatter a thrill and hacked the man wound after beating him down. They fled later chased by locals. 

A case has yet to be filed over the incident.

Legal action will be taken after formal complaint received, said Hatiya Police OC Kamruzzaman Sikdar.
