Fire guts 27 warehouses storing apparel leftover in Gazipur

A fire has gutted 27 warehouses used to store leftover clothes from garment factories in Gazipur.

The incident was reported from the district’s Konabari area Thursday, said the fire service.

Deputy Assistant Director Aktaruzzaman said it took six fire-fighting units almost five hours to put out the flames. “The fire broke out around 6:30pm and spread to nearby warehouses soon after.”

No casualties were reported, he said adding that the fire started when employees of the warehouse were using fire to test yarn.
