Mahmudul Haque gets Japan Foreign Minister’s Commendation

Mahmudul Haque, a professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Dhaka University, has been conferred with the Japan Foreign Minister’s Commendation.

The embassy said the Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries.

He received the award at the official residence of Ambassador Hiroyasu Izumi on the occasion of National Day reception to celebrate the birthday of the Emperor of Japan on Saturday.

On July 20 last year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan decided to confer the Commendation upon Professor Haque.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Izumi expressed his sincere appreciation to Professor Haque for his “great contribution to enriching our great friendship through paintings for more than 30 years.”

Haque got a master’s degree in Fine Arts at Tsukuba University, Japan, in 1984 and since then, has taught many Bangladeshi students the beauty of Japanese art at University of Dhaka, the embassy said.
