Senior Meteorologist Abdul Mannan told bdnews24.com that the depression was centred at west-central Bay in the evening.

“Mild to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places in next two days due to the low. But the possibility of it becoming a cyclone is very low,” he said.

In the forecast for Saturday, it also said light to moderate rain might occur at many places in Bangladesh, including Dhaka.

Night temperature may rise slightly and day temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius over the country.

On Friday, the minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tentulia.

Dhaka’s minimum temperature was 20.4 degrees Celsius.

In Dhaka, there were a few drizzles at some places in the morning on Friday while the most of the capital was overcast with the cloud.

In a special bulletin, the Met Office said the deep depression over the west-central Bay and adjoining area moved north-northwestwards further over the same area.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction.

“Under its influence deep convection is taking place over the North Bay. Squally weather may affect north bay, coastal regions of Bangladesh and the maritime ports,” the bulletin said.

It added the maximum sustained wind speed within 48km of the depression centre is about 50kph rising to 60kph in gusts or squalls. The sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.
