The services snapped after two freight trains had collided in Chuadanga resulting in halting the train communications on the Khulna-Dhaka, Khulna-Rajshahi and Khulna-Chilahati routes from around 6am Saturday.

Two members of the railway police were injured in the accident at Darshana, said Chuadanga Station Master Anwar Hossain Sadat.

The services resumed around 3pm after a rescue train from Pakshi recovered the two damaged trains from the tracks, Sadat said.

“Due to wrong signals, a freight train from Faridpur switched tracks to the Darhsana station and collided head-on with another freight train carrying oil,” he said.

There were, however, no problems on the Maitree Express line.

Sadat said a four-member committee to investigate the accident was formed with the Railways Department's Pakshi Divisional Transport Officer Shawkat Zamil as the head.
