Long gridlocks were seen stretching from Banani to Motijheel and Gulistan on Wednesday evening.

"Several roads were blocked for allowing the president to travel," the police control room told bdnews24.com.

President Hamid arrived in Dhaka on a helicopter after a visit to his village in Kishoreganj. After reaching the capital, he went to visit his daughter and son-in-law at the Combined Military Hospital or CMH.

He then headed toward his official residence Bangabhaban, reaching there around 7pm.

The VIP road between Jahangir Gate and Gulistan was closed for about 45 minutes, an assistant commissioner stationed in Tejgaon told bdnews24.com.
