RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed has also asked all to notify the law-enforcing agencies if they see any kind of militant activities either on social media or in their area.

His request on Monday came after information emerged that at least two of the attackers of Gulshan’s Holey Artisan Bakery and O' Kitchen restaurant had been missing for a long time.

“If there are any missing family members, please tell us, don’t be afraid that law-enforcing agencies will take your sons away. Their lives and other lives can be saved if they are found,” Ahmed said.

The families of the two attackers had filed police complaints after they had gone missing.

They have been identified as Rohan Bin Imtiaz and Mir Sabih Mubashir after their former classmates from a top English medium school in Dhaka, seeing the photos published by jihadist monitoring group SITE, began posting about their true identities on Facebook.

According to their families, they had been missing for the past several months.

On Friday night, the cafe and the restaurant in Gulshan-2 came under attack by a group of armed terrorists. They had taken at least 33 hostages and killed two police officers who had tried to end the siege.

Commandos finally stormed the eatery, which was popular among foreigners, the next morning after the terrorists had refused to engage in negotiations and rescued 13 hostages.

The army told the media 20 hostages had been found slaughtered on the premises. They included nine from Italy, seven from Japan, an Indian citizen and three Bangladeshis, one of whom was a US citizen as well.
