Around 60 BCL activists blocked the road, raising anti-war criminal slogans, around 1am on Wednesday.

Pabna BCL chief Ruhul Amin, who was among the demonstrators, said, “The soil of Pabna will become unholy if a notorious war criminal like Nizami is buried here.”

A police team has started for the place to persuade the agitators to lift the blockade, Santhia Police Station OC Nasir Uddin told bdnews24.com around 1:45am.

An ambulance carrying Nizami’s body after his execution started for Pabna around 1:30am.

The ambulance is being accompanied by another one and escorted by vehicles of security forces.

The family said preparations for the burial were being made at a place designated by the police within the family graveyard.
