With police clueless about the killers even four days after the murder, there is a growing demand to investigate that phone number.

In a post on Nov 3, Tonu, who went by the name ‘Jahan Zara’ on Facebook, wrote: “Some people are so bad... 0197183185 ... Why so many calls from the number ufff ...”

One had commented, “Who is it? Do you know the person? Receive [the call] and talk [to the person].”

In reply, Tonu had said she did not know the caller.

Many shared the post on Thursday and demanded the owner of that number be tracked down.
One Saiful Islam Rifat has written on Facebook, “I know there’s not much logic in what I am saying. Nevertheless, it should be investigated who used that number. Tonu has been disturbed from this number.”
Another Facebook user, Kamal Hossain Sohrab, says: “Someone from this number used to disturb Tonu. Whose number is it?”
Tonu’s last Facebook post was on Mar 20. She had posted some photos of her tour of Sylhet.
That very night, her body was found in a bush inside Mainamati Cantonment. Her shoes, hair and torn-off scarf were found nearby.
Police suspect she had been raped before being murdered.
Facebook added the word ‘Remembering’ above her user name, something it does after a user dies. Tonu’s friends had requested Facebook to do so.
She was buried at her village, Mirzapur, in Muradnagar Upazila after an autopsy was performed at Comilla Medical College Hospital.
An undergraduate student of history at Comilla Victoria College, Tonu was a theatre activist. Her father is a fourth-class employee of the Cantonment Board. They lived in Alipur area.
Tonu’s classmate Mainul Haque Swapan told
bdnews24.com that she used to tutor students privately because of the family’s financial difficulties.
She had left the house of her student around 7:30pm on Sunday. Her body was found two hours later.
