Ministry, local administration open probe on Faridpur road crash

Two separate probe committees have been formed by the road transport ministry and the Faridpur administration over Thursday’s road crash that left 25 dead.

The five-member body of the ministry, comprising of representatives of local and highway polices, fire service and BRTA, will be headed by Faridpur’s additional magistrate.
 
A statement by the ministry says the probe body will file its findings within seven working days.
 
Meanwhile, the Faridpur administration has also opened an inquiry over the accident at Bhanga Upazila at the wee hours of Thursday.
 
Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rashid will head the three-member committee, which has been instructed to submit a report within two days, said Deputy Commissioner Sardar Sarafat Ali.
 
The accident occurred around 1:15 am on Thursday on the Barisal-Dhaka highway when the bus from Dhaka lost control and hit a number of trees. 
 
The deceased include 20 men and 5 women.
