BSF opens fire, one killed

A Bangladeshi man has been killed and two others injured in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Fulbari in Kurigram.

Shyamal Chandra Badyakar, 32, was in a team of cattle traders bringing 30-45 cows from India through the Khalishakotal Border at dawn on Friday, commander of the Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) outpost in the vicinity, Habilder Shafiul Alam, told bdnews24.com.

The BSF had chased men and opened fire.

Shyamal was hit and died after crossing over to Bangladesh territory. 

The two injured are Badal Chandra Badyakar, 32, and Manik Roy, 34. All three are from Naodanga Union.

A letter protesting the killing has been sent to the BSF, and BGB patrol strengthened, he added. 

Fulbari Police Officer in Charge Bazlur Rashid said the BGB had handed over the body to his station in the morning. It would be sent to the Kurigram morgue for autopsy.
