PM condoles Abdur Razzaq’s death

Newly-elected President Abdul Hamid’s younger brother Abdur Razzaq, 68, passed away on Tuesday.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Deputy Director Mokhlesuzzaman said Razzaq, admitted to the hospital several days ago, was transferred to the CCU in the morning when his condition deteriorated.

Razzaq had been suffering from various ailments including respiratory disorder, the doctor said.

“He died around 7am while undergoing treatment,” Mokhlesuzzaman said.

Razzaq is expected to be buried on Thursday at the family graveyard in his ancestral Kamalpur village under Kishoreganj’s Mithamoin upazila.

He leaves behind his wife, four sons and three daughters to mourn his death.

Senior Awami League leader Abdul Hamid was elected as the 20th President of Bangladesh on Monday. He is slated to take oath on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of Abdur Razzaq.

In a condolence message, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family.
