Three people have been killed and four others seriously injured in a three-way collision involving a bus, an ambulance and a motorcycle in Feni Sadar Upazila.
The crash took place early on Sunday in the Rampur Bridge area along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, according to Asadul Islam, chief (OC) of Mahipal Highway Police Station.
Two of the three dead have been identified. They are 39-year-old Mohammad Morshed from Dhaka’s Banglamotor area, and 38-year-old Sohag from Lalbagh.
Citing witnesses, OC Asadul said an ambulance was moving slowly through the area after seeing signs placed for road repair work when a Shyamoli Paribahan bus hit it from behind.
He said the drivers of the bus and the ambulance then became involved in an argument, causing a motorcycle and several other vehicles to pile up behind them.
At that point, a Doel Paribahan sleeper coach travelling at high speed crashed into the congestion, triggering the collision.

“One motorcyclist and the supervisor of the Doel Paribahan bus were killed on the spot,” Asadul said.
“Four injured people were rescued and taken to Feni General Hospital, where one more person later died.”
Md Shahadat Hossain, a senior Feni Fire Service official, said firefighters rushed to the scene after the incident was reported. They removed the damaged vehicles and sent the injured to hospital.
Feni Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Suniti Chakma said repair work had been under way since early Sunday on one Chattogram-bound lane of the highway in the Rampur area with prior notice.
To control vehicle speed, speed breakers had been installed at the site 15 days earlier and marked with white paint, he said.
Suniti added that there would be some disruption to traffic on that stretch until Mar 30, and that newspaper notices had already been published asking people to use alternative routes.
