Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in Beijing from Dalian after attending the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Summer Davos conference in China.

Tarique and his wife Zubaida Rahman reached Beijing’s Chaoyang Railway Station by high-speed train at 5:35pm local time on Wednesday.

From there, they travelled to the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, where they will stay during the visit.

Their arrival in Beijing marks the start of the prime minister’s three-day state visit to China, undertaken at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

On Thursday afternoon, Tarique will receive an official welcome at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

This will be followed by bilateral talks between delegations led by Li Qiang and Tarique.

On Friday, the Bangladeshi prime minister is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People.

Senior leaders of the Communist Party of China are also expected to meet him during the visit.

After completing his first overseas visit to Malaysia on Sunday and Monday, Tarique arrived in Dalian, a city in northeastern China, on Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday morning, he held a courtesy meeting with World Economic Forum President and Chief Executive Officer Børge Brende.

Later in the day, he addressed a session titled “Climate Leadership in a Shifting Global Landscape” at the Summer Davos forum.

The prime minister also attended a banquet hosted by Li Qiang in honour of heads of government participating in the forum.

On Wednesday morning, Tarique joined the plenary session of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions before departing for Beijing in the afternoon.
