EC will not 'succumb to any pressure', CEC Nasir Uddin says

The Election Commission will give instructions to poll-organising officers in line with the electoral law, he says

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has called upon Upazila administrators (UNOs) not to yield to any form of pressure while carrying out their responsibilities during the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.

Speaking on Wednesday at the inauguration of a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme for UNOs ahead of the national vote, Nasir said the Election Commission (EC) would issue instructions to election officials in line with electoral law.

"We have only one message for you -- do not surrender to any pressure and remain firmly committed to your decision in accordance with the law."

He assured field-level administrators of the EC’s cooperation in ensuring a free and fair election and called on them to play an effective role in coordinating their work.

The four election commissioners and the EC secretary were also present at the event.
