Two die as one truck rear-ends another, causing both to overturn in Mymensingh

Both the driver and his assistant died before being brought to hospital, an official says

Two people have died after one truck hit another, causing both vehicles to overturn in Mymensingh’s Trishal Upazila.

The accident occurred around 5:30am on Tuesday near the Bailor Boro Pukur Par Jame Mosque on the Dhaka–Mymensingh Highway, said Trishal Police Station chief Monsur Ahamed.

The dead have been identified as 28-year-old driver Al Amin and his 30-year-old assistant Md Rashed.

Monsur said, “A truck heading towards Mymensingh from Trishal rammed into another truck from behind. Both vehicles overturned, leaving the two seriously injured.

“Locals and Trishal Fire Service personnel later took them to the Upazila health complex, where doctors declared them dead.”

The police officer suspected that the accident occurred due to the driver’s carelessness.

Dr Rashed Ahmed of the Trishal Upazila Health Complex said, “Both the driver and his assistant had died before they were brought to the hospital.”
