Police seize 60kg cannabis and 6,000 yaba pills from a student hostel

Police have seized 60kg of cannabis and 6,000 yaba pills from a student hostel in Dhaka’s Bhatara Thana and arrested three suspects.

The raid was carried out on Sunday afternoon at the “Niribili” student hostel in Dalibari Kacha Bazar, said Bhatara Police Station chief Md Imaul Haque.

“Acting on a tip‑off, police recovered 60kg of cannabis, 6,000 yaba pills, 1,000 small packets of cannabis and Tk 42,000 from the hostel attic,” he said.

The detainees were identified as Fatema Akter Mitu, 35, Samaj Mia, 32, and Md Rahim, 40.

Legal action has been taken against them, Imaul added.
