A Panama-flagged cargo ship has sunk in the Bay of Bengal about 240 nautical miles off the coast of Odisha in India, with 24 sailors -- including one Bangladeshi, aboard.

Indian officials said the MV Ocean Winner sank on Saturday.

The crew included 20 Chinese, three Myanmar nationals and one Bangladeshi.

The Press Trust of India reported that the ship was heading to Singapore with 72,100 tonnes of iron ore fines loaded in Odisha.

The MV Ocean Winner left Odisha’s Paradip Port at 10:42pm local time on Friday.
