Bangladesh has summoned the Indian envoy in Dhaka after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's Information and Broadcasting Advisor Zahed Ur Rahman was stopped by immigration at Delhi airport.
Foreign ministry officials said they called in Acting High Commissioner Pawan Kumar Badhe on Monday and handed him a formal protest note over the incident.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman said the incident was completely "unexpected and unfortunate”.
He said the ministry was taking appropriate steps and would provide further details later in the day.
Ministry officials confirmed that a media statement detailing the diplomatic summons would be issued later in the evening.
