MPs will be sworn in by Feb 17, says press secretary

He cannot confirm who will administer oath in speaker’s absence

The swearing-in of elected members of parliament will take by Feb 16 or at the latest Feb 17, according to Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Speaking to reporters at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Saturday, he said the oath-taking process will be completed quickly and will not extend beyond Feb 17.

Shafiqul, however, did not specify who will administer the oaths in the absence of the speaker.
