A Biman Bangladesh Airlines Boeing 777-ER aircraft en route to Saudi Arabia’s Dammam has returned to Dhaka shortly after take-off following a cabin pressure alert.

The airline arranged an alternative aircraft to carry the passengers to Dammam after the incident took place on Monday afternoon.

The returned aircraft was inspected by Biman’s engineering team, and no issues were found. It is scheduled to be used on another route later Monday night.

According to the airline authorities, Flight BG349 took off from Shahjalal International Airport around 3:30pm, carrying approximately 450 passengers.

Upon receiving the alert, the pilot chose to return to Dhaka as a safety precaution.

The aircraft landed safely after circling above Dhaka and nearby areas for about an hour to burn excess fuel.

Biman Director Al Masud Khan said, “After take-off, the pilot noticed a cabin pressure alert. Without taking any risk, they decided to return the aircraft to Dhaka.”

This incident follows two recent technical issues involving Biman aircraft.

On Jul 16, a Dhaka-bound Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner was grounded in Dubai due to a tyre defect.

Spare tyres and parts were flown in, and the aircraft returned to Bangladesh 30 hours later.

On Jul 24, another Dhaka-bound Biman Dreamliner from Dubai was forced to return due to a landing gear door malfunction after taking off from its transit stop in Chattogram.

The problem was fixed, and the flight resumed its journey to Dhaka after a two-hour delay.
