Four flights have so far been diverted from Dhaka and have landed at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport following a fire at the cargo terminal of Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

Among these, two are domestic flights inbound from Chattogram to Dhaka, and the other two were international flights -- one US-Bangla Airlines flight from Bangkok to Dhaka and an Air Arabia flight from the Middle East to Dhaka -- the Shah Amanat Airport authorities said in a statement on Saturday.

Currently, all operations at Shah Amanat International Airport are proceeding as normal.

The fire at Shahjalal broke out around 2:15pm on Saturday. The Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Fire Service are working there to extinguish the blaze and conduct rescue operations.

As of the latest update, 31 Fire Service units are working at the site, and five more are en route.

All flight operations, both arrivals and departures, have been temporarily suspended at Shahjalal International Airport.
