Politico and MS NOW reporters have been barred from the White House on Thursday despite a judge's order calling for access to be restored immediately for journalists from Politico, CNN and MS NOW after President Donald Trump banned the news outlets.
The Politico reporter's credentials were also confiscated, Politico said, hours after a federal judge temporarily blocked Trump's ban and said it was likely unconstitutional. MS NOW also said its reporter was blocked from the White House.
Some CNN staff were also denied access early Thursday, including reporter Betsy Klein and a photojournalist, while one of the network's producers was able to enter using their pass.
MS NOW White House correspondent Laura Barrón-López said a Secret Service member told her that her credentials were still showing as disabled when scanned. Her badge was then confiscated and she was asked to leave.
López added that it was unclear whether the refusal of entry was in deliberate defiance of the court order or “incompetence or a lag in the system.”
It was not immediately clear if all CNN journalists were allowed onto White House grounds.
The overnight ruling blocked the ban for 14 days and is a major setback for Trump in one of his biggest battles with the media.
