US President Donald Trump's approval rating has sunk to the lowest level of his current term at 34%, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. His standing with the American public has trended lower since taking office in January 2025, when 47% of Americans approved of his performance overall.
What The Numbers Show
Along with the unpopular war with Iran, dim views on Trump's economic stewardship are dragging down his overall ratings, the poll shows. Only around half of US adults identifying with Trump's own Republican Party support his handling of inflation and rising prices; by contrast, eight in 10 Republicans approve of his handling of immigration.

As November's midterm elections draw closer, price hikes have fueled concerns among Republicans that they could lose control of the US Congress.
A Wednesday decision by the US Supreme Court opens the door for Republican lawmakers to dismantle Democratic-held US House districts with majority Black or Latino populations across the South. Even if lawmakers do not have time to install new electoral maps before November, the decision could potentially give Republicans an electoral advantage for years to come.
