Mark Ruffalo has gone full rage mode on Donald Trump, threatening to "hulk out" on the US president and the Republican Party during a fiery, expletive-filled speech in New York.
The actor let loose at a "Hands Off Our Vote" rally on Sunday, accusing Republicans of trying to "steal" the midterm elections and urging Democrats not to back down, Variety reports.
Dropping the niceties, Ruffalo called for Trump to be turned into a political “lame duck”, warning that two more years of his policies could spell disaster, and accused him of threatening to throw Democrats out of the country.
"They're going to try and stop us from taking our country back, and we're not going to let 'em," he told the crowd, before leaning into his Marvel alter ego: "I'm going to hulk out. You won't like me when I'm angry."
Still very much “playing the Hulk”, as he put it, Ruffalo rallied the crowd to stand firm, warning that Republicans would try everything to make Americans feel “small, isolated and defeated”.
"It's not inevitable. We're inevitable -- the truth is inevitable," he said.
The Republican National Committee pushed back against Ruffalo’s remarks, with Election Integrity Communications Director Ally Triolo telling Fox News that voter ID and proof-of-citizenship rules are popular and accusing Democrats of opposing election safeguards.
The White House also attacked Ruffalo, with spokesman Davis Ingle accusing the actor of spreading falsehoods and using the phrase “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.
Ruffalo has also been vocal in opposing Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
After a federal judge cleared the deal to proceed last week, he called the outcome “incredibly disappointing” and said the merger would hurt creativity, free speech and jobs, according to Variety.
