US President Trump greets Muslims on Eid

Eid “unites Muslim families, friends, and communities in honor of their spiritual devotion at the conclusion of Ramadan”, he says

US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have greeted American Muslims on the occasion of Eid.

“The First Lady and I send our best wishes to every American celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

Eid al-Fitr, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, unites Muslim families, friends, and communities in honor of their spiritual devotion at the conclusion of Ramadan,” they said in a statement.

“It also serves as a reminder of the foundational American principle of religious liberty, which my Administration is fighting for every day.”

They added, “We offer our warmest greetings for a blessed Eid al-Fitr to all who celebrate.”

Eid is being celebrated in the United States on Friday. More than 5,000 Eid congregations will be held in open fields, hotel ballrooms and inside mosques under the management of 3,500 mosques, according to the Council on American Relations, which works to secure the rights and dignity of Muslim Americans.

Eid congregations will also be held in more than 300 mosques run by Bangladeshis in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the Washington metropolitan area, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Texas, California, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Arizona, and Minnesota.
