The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been hit by a fresh wave of resignations, with three directors stepping down on Saturday following a marathon nine-hour board meeting.
Faiazur Rahman, chairman of the Disciplinary Committee and senior vice-chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), resigned immediately after the session.
He was followed by Shanian Tanim, chairman of the Facilities Management Committee, and Mehrab Alam Chowdhury, head of the Security Committee.
Their departure brings the total number of resignations to six within the first six months of the board’s tenure under the leadership of Aminul Islam Bulbul.
Confirming his exit to bdnews24.com, Shanian struck a cryptic note.
"While others cited personal reasons, I mentioned 'unknown' reasons. I don’t wish to say anything more at this moment," he said.
The exodus began on Jan 24 when Game Development Chairman Ishtiaque Sadeque resigned citing personal reasons.
On Mar 23, Amzad Hussain stepped down after being removed as Media Committee Chairman.
Most recently, on Thursday, National Sports Council (NSC) nominee Yasir Mohammed Faysal Ashique, who headed the Logistics and Protocol Committee, also tendered his resignation.
The current board took office last October following an election marred by widespread allegations of government interference and manipulation.
The National Sports Council formed a committee last month to investigate these irregularities, with a final report expected within the next few days.
As speculation mounts over the board's future, the string of high-profile exits has fuelled rumours that the current administration may be on the verge of a total collapse.
