Bangladesh have set their sights on Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury for their upcoming friendlies against Nepal, despite the midfielder’s club commitments imminent.
Team manager Amer Khan revealed ongoing talks with the championship side to secure Choudhury for the September international window.
The two matches are scheduled for Sept 6 and 9, with Bangladesh’s training camp starting on Wednesday.
Coach Javier Cabrera has yet to finalise the squad, which includes Choudhury in a preliminary 24-man list.
A letter has already been sent to the Foxes, as the federation pushes for the defensive midfielder’s availability.
Cavalry FC’s Shamit Shome will miss out due to club fixtures on Sept 6 and 14 in the Canadian Premier League.
“Shamit has club football matches in September, so he wasn’t included in our preliminary squad for the September window,” manager Amer said to bdnews24.com.
Only five players have joined the camp, with Abahani’s squad arriving on Thursday and Bashundhara Kings’ on Friday.
