Brit Academy London Bangladesh has unveiled an accelerated pathway that enables students to obtain a qualifying UK law degree in as little as two years and progress to barrister training within three, while completing most of their studies from Bangladesh.
The academy operates from campuses in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram.
The programme is designed to address a long-standing challenge in legal education, according to a media statement from the academy.
The conventional University of London LLB (Hons) route in Bangladesh has historically recorded low completion rates, with only about 15 of every 70 enrolled students reaching graduation, it added.
Repeated examination retakes, mounting costs and declining motivation are often cited as key factors behind the high attrition rate.
Under Brit Academy's model, the first two years of study are built around assignment-based learning rather than traditional exam-focused assessment.
Students begin by pursuing an Extended Diploma in Law, which can be completed in as little as one year through an intensive study track, before progressing to a one-year LLB Top-Up programme at a partner university in the United Kingdom.
The academy's network includes more than 70 partner institutions, among them the University of Hertfordshire, the University of Law, the University of Essex, Oxford Brookes University, Lancaster University and Nottingham Trent University.
Upon completion, graduates receive a globally recognised Qualifying Law Degree (QLD), allowing them to advance to professional bar training in England and Wales.
Depending on the institution, this final stage is offered through programmes such as the Bar Practice Course (BPC), Bar Training Course (BTC) or Bar Vocational Studies (BVS).
The faculty includes senior legal professionals. Dr M Mahbub Hasan, an Advisory Board Member, holds a PhD in Cyber Law and is a Barrister-at-Law of Lincoln's Inn and an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
Other faculty members include Barrister Yousuf Reza, Barrister Kazi Saad, Barrister Obaidul Hoq, and Barrister Faizul Houq.
Advocate Shumona Reja serves as lecturer and dead of admissions.
The academy also provides visa guidance and admissions support for students progressing to UK universities.
