The Jatiya Party has reported an election expenditure of around Tk 500,000 for candidates contesting across 196 constituencies, a figure far below the amount permitted under electoral rules.

A three-member delegation of the party, led by Presidium Member Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, submitted a statement signed by party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader to the Election Commission on Wednesday.

According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the party was allowed to spend up to Tk 30 million in the parliamentary polls.

Rezaul said the party does not give any donations to its candidates.

“Candidates always bear their own election expenses and submit their expense reports on time. The Jatiya Party's party election expenses have also been reduced this time," he said.

He said they spent a total of Tk 325,000 on election campaigns, Tk 115,000 on public meetings and Tk 65,000 on staff expenses.

“In total, Tk 505,000 was spent,” Rezaul said.

The party had reported an expenditure of around Tk 105,000 in the 2024 election. In the 2018 election, the figure was around Tk 450,000.

According to the audit report submitted to the EC last year, the Jatiya Party's income in the 2024 calendar year was nearly Tk 26.5 million.

The party showed an annual expenditure of around Tk 18 million at that time, when it had approximately Tk 8.5 million in its bank account.
