Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said his government is determined to fulfil the aspirations of those killed in the 2024 July uprising, as well as those who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War and the struggle for democracy.

He made the remarks on Saturday at an event where job appointment letters were presented to members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings, as well as those affected by the July uprising.

“We will try our utmost to fulfil the aspirations of the martyred freedom fighters of 1971, as well as those who disappeared, suffered losses or were killed while striving to establish democracy at different times since the country’s independence, and finally those who were killed or suffered in various ways during the July Movement,” Tarique said.

“This government is determined to fulfil their aspirations.”

He added: “I hope that for as long as the people of this country entrust us with the responsibility of running the state, we will continue to meet the needs, hopes and expectations of these families.”

The event was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon.

Appointment letters from several institutions were presented to 74 people during the ceremony, with the prime minister personally handing letters to 10 recipients.
