Dhaka, July 8 (bdnews24.com) -- A Dhaka court Sunday sent Majeda Ahsan, wife of former BNP lawmaker Monjurul Ahsan Munshi to jail after she surrendered in a corruption case.
Majeda turned herself in to the Special Judge's Court-5 and judge Md Ashraf Hossain issued an order sending her to jail.
Deputy inspector general of prisons Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told bdnews24.com: "We received Majeda Munshi at 6 in the evening. She has been kept in the Bonolata cell of Women's Ward."
The Anticorruption Commission filed a case with Ramna Police Station on March 27 against Monjurul Ahsan, his wife and their two sons for suppressing information in their wealth statement and earning wealth illegally.
Majeda's husband is in jail in connection with the same case. Their two sons—Rezwanul Ahsan and Rizviul Ahsan—are on bail by the High Court.
The ACC alleged that the family had suppressed information about wealth worth Tk 3.13 crore and earned Tk 5.37 crore in illegal property.
