BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on party members to remain united, warning that “conspiracies” were still brewing in Bangladesh.

He made the remarks at a discussion organised by the London unit of the BNP at London’s City Pavilion on Tuesday to mark Victory Day.

"I told you a year ago that we have difficult times ahead. Conspiracies have not stopped and this election will not be easy either. Now, many of you understand the situation. What I said would happen a year ago is now happening," he said.

"Now I say again, the times to come will not be particularly easy. So, everyone must be vigilant, everyone must be united."

Addressing expatriate BNP activists at the event, Tarique asked: "Can you stay united?"

The assembled activists and supporters loudly answered, “Yes”.

“Only by remaining united can we make this plan [of nation-building] successful. Only if we remain united can we forge the Bangladesh of our expectations. Only by remaining united can we build a system that is accountable in Bangladesh.”
