The Election Commission (EC) has issued a gazette naming Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for a reserved women's seat in the 13th parliament.

Returning Officer EC Joint Secretary Moin Uddin Khan said, "The candidate was declared elected unopposed on Monday. Then, the gazette was issued after receiving the approval of the commission."

The Parliament Secretariat will take the next steps in arranging her swearing-in ceremony after it receives a copy of the gazette.

Nusrat’s election means that gazettes have been issued for all 50 women's reserved seats for the 13th parliament.

Previously, the nomination of NCP candidate Monira Sharmin was cancelled.

Later, the EC accepted the nomination of another candidate from the NCP, Nusrat, following a court order.

After her candidacy was declared valid, the EC decided to declare her elected unopposed on Monday and publish the gazette along with her name and address.

Previously, 49 MPs elected unopposed for the reserved women's seats took their oaths on Sunday night.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, and was conducted in accordance with Article 148 of the Constitution, Article 5 of the Third Schedule, and Rule 5 of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament.
