Former minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun dies

He had been in prison since his arrest following the ousting of the Awami League government

Former industries minister and Narsingdi-4 MP Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has died.

He died at 8:10am on Monday while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the Department of Prisons said in a statement.

Nurul had been admitted to Ward No. 602 of the hospital, it said. He was taken to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Sunday when his condition deteriorated. He died there on Monday morning.

He was arrested from Dhaka’s Gulshan on Sept 24, 2024 after the fall of the Awami League government.

Born in 1950, Nurul served as industries minister from 2019 to 2024.
