National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has submitted his nomination papers to run from Dhaka-11 constituency in the parliamentary polls.

Dhaka-11 comprises Rampura, Badda, Bhatara and parts of Hatirjheel.

The nomination papers were submitted to the Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Dhaka in Segunbagicha on Monday afternoon, as confirmed on Nahid Islam’s verified Facebook page.

Nahid entered the election race a day after leading his party into an alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami and other parties. Jamaat has ceded Dhaka-11 to NCP as its alliance partner. The alliance comprises eight other parties.

On Sunday night, Jamaat’s candidate for Dhaka-11 Atikur Rahman, announced on his Facebook page that he was pulling out of the electoral race, welcoming Nahid.
