BNP Standing Committee Member Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has been appointed the party’s acting secretary general, shortly after Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected president.
The party announced the appointment in a media statement signed by joint office secretary Munir Hossain, citing Article 7(b)(6) of the BNP Constitution.
The decision takes effect immediately.
Rizvi was among four leaders appointed to the BNP Standing Committee on Aug 15, just five days before he was given the additional responsibility of acting secretary general.
He was elected senior joint secretary general at the BNP’s Sixth National Council in 2016.
