The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) have signed a memorandum of understanding, the first such agreement between the two parties.

It was signed at 8:45am local time on Thursday at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, China’s high-profile state diplomatic complex in Beijing.

The BNP will detail the specific terms and focus areas of the bilateral pact at a later media briefing.

Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen were present during the signing ceremony.
