Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, the head of the National Consensus Commission, has invited the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the July Charter signing ceremony.
On Thursday around 8:30pm, commission member Badiul Alam Majumdar and the Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Monir Haider visited Evercare Hospital in Dhaka and personally handed the invitation letter to Khaleda.
Tarique’s invitation letter was handed over to Khaleda’s personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
The signing ceremony is scheduled for 4pm on Friday at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building, where political parties are set to sign the finalised July National Charter as part of broader state reform efforts.
When asked about Khaleda's response, Badiul said: “We did not have a long discussion, but from what we observed and what she expressed, she seemed very pleased and welcomed the initiative.”
“She believes this Charter marks a major milestone for Bangladesh and will play a crucial role in shaping a better future for the country.”
The BNP chief was admitted to Evercare Hospital late Wednesday night for a medical check-up.
