Hasnat Abdullah, the chief coordinator for the National Citizen Party (NCP) southern region, says that Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum was appointed under a “quota” by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.

“We have a health advisor. Do you know her?” he said. “She was appointed under Muhammad Yunus’s brother quota. This health advisor is the biggest example of Yunus’s nepotism. I have always said there is no need for this health advisor.”

“Have you ever noticed any of her activities? The salary she takes home is sinful. The fact that she rides in a government vehicle is a deception of the people. The health advisor is useless. She does not understand anything. She does not understand the health system, and she does not understand medicine. Her only qualification is that she was at Grameen Bank and is very close to Yunus. That is her qualification.”

Hasnat asked, “What should we do with this health advisor? And the sad thing is, she goes to Singapore for her own treatment… The salary and allowances that this health advisor has been given should be deposited in the state treasury, and she should resign immediately.”

He made the remarks at an NCP rally in the Chandpur Bus Stand area on Wednesday.

At the beginning of the meeting, NCP leaders exchanged greetings with family members of the martyrs of the July Uprising. Many of the family members broke down in tears as they met the leaders of the July protests. They spoke to them about their current circumstances and future hopes.

A condolence march was also held from the Chandpur Circuit House to the rally site.
