The National Citizen Party’s (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has submitted nomination papers to run in the parliamentary polls from Dhaka-8 constituency.

The slain Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi had hoped to participate in the parliamentary polls as an independent candidate from the seat.

After entering the election race by submitting the nomination papers at the Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Dhaka, on Monday afternoon, Nasiruddin said he was “given the responsibility to make Hadi’s dreams a reality”.

He also pledges to ensure justice for the murder of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader Shahriar Alam Shammo.

“We have many challenges ahead, but we must carry out this election, which in itself is also a significant challenge,” he said.

Hadi was shot in the head on Dec 12 during his election campaign in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar. He died six days later while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
